A cat with a box? Well, if you have a box, you are bound to find a cat in it… if you have a cat, that is. I am sure that is why whoever came up with cat boxes was aware of this. A box, regardless of whether it is cardboard or plastic, will attract a cat. Heck, my cats love paper bags, too. But I digress.
While I love my cats, I am less than enthused about cat boxes. Oh, I am glad we have them, but I am less than excited to clean them. Charlie and I have an agreement. He will do the day to day scooping out of the cat box while I get to clean it out with a good scrub. I don’t know which one is ickier.
This past Sunday, Charlie came down with a cold. For the next 3-4 days, I was emptying the cat box. Yay, me!
Thankfully, Charlie is feeling better now, so he is back to the daily scooping. ’Cause, you know, I’m well and truly done with it.
(Yes, I love my kitties, but I do not love the cat box. Cats in boxes, yes. Cat box, no.)
Uh, huh, we have 18 litter boxes, we have it down to a system, big plastic box, sifter tray on top, pour in, add litter freash, pour back into boxes. Every day. Weekly, pour in add new litter, to big box, wash and bleach all boxes, put on rack to dry use dry boxes from last week, so they air dry a week in between. Hmm, so we actually have 36 litter boxes.
I am speechless, Shawn. This is why I only have two kitties. LOL No more kitties, although I have a feeling I’m going to cave before Lily leaves the nest. I do love my kitties, just not the litter box.
Wow, Shawn, that is a lot of work. But, then, you have more than just kitties using the boxes AND some fair-sized kitties, yes? And, LOTS of kitties! I don’t miss the box, but I do miss kitties. {sigh}
I do not envy Shawn the number of animals she has. I have enough with just two kitties. LOL
I have five boxes. *sigh* Hate, hate, hate cleaning them. And my youngest is a little princess who will pee *beside* them in the morning before they’re clean if I’m not fast enough, so I keep puppy pads around them. I really want to teach mine to use the toilet but I have a blind cat and that just wouldn’t work with her.
Shudders at the thought of five. I have one. It’s more than enough. The price we pay for cats.
